We are pleased to offer each student a specialized Introduction to Primary Health Care (IPHC) course. Primary healthcare is an incredibly powerful and proven tool that touches lives of people living in areas where many remain isolated from adequate health care. Our IPHC course will cover comprehensive instruction taught by certified instructors. It covers many important and relevant health issues such as TB treatment, ear infections, respiratory infections, pneumonia, various skin diseases, dentistry, etc.

An integral part of this program is the fieldwork outreaches that will take each student into remote provincial areas. Students are given the opportunity to participate in several of our weekly mobile medical clinics that we sponsor in impoverished urban areas located here in Davao City as well as remote provincial areas that can be accessed only by motorcycle, horseback or by foot.

The study and application of Primary Health Care is not so much an emphasis on knowledge gained as on principles applied. It's very much a journey into God's heart for hurting and broken people. This type of ministry best represents the Samaritan Commission which is a practical application of the parable Jesus taught concerning helping those unable to help themselves.

During the past few years we have gained access into very remote areas. Our PHC instructors have spent a long time developing strong and healthy relationships in provincial areas with tribal chiefs as well as government leaders. They have graciously extended a warm welcome to us and gladly receive the medical care we provide for their people. Outreaches typically involve a day trip or may last several days. These medical outreaches have been a highlight for all of our midwife students.

These outreaches are something every student really enjoys!
