Overview
Newlife International School of Midwifery is a Christian school for direct-entry midwifery students. Although our school is based on a U.S. curriculum and standards outlined by the National College of Midwifery the entire training is actually done in the Philippines. Most of our students are from the United States. However, other countries represented include South Africa, England, Denmark, Jamaica, Ireland, China, Canada and Switzerland.
We are a Christian mission organization comprised of approximately 50 individuals who come from a variety of denominational and non-denominational backgrounds. The overall team is comprised of several missionaries (married couples with families as well as single individuals) and a wonderful group of Filipino Christian workers. Our home office is based in Portland, Oregon U.S.A.
Newlife International School of Midwifery is operated as an extension of our birthing center, Mercy Maternity Center, which is the largest charity-based birthing clinic in the Philippines serving almost 20,000 patients (prenatal exams) annually. Families living in severe poverty conditions that cannot afford quality health care comprise our primary target group. All of our services are free of charge. We simply desire to show women God's mercy and kindness in a practical way as Jesus taught us. The hands-on and deeply relational skill of midwifery is proven to be a powerful avenue to bring God's love to suffering people.
Last year our staff and students delivered 1,500 babies and more than 10,000 babies have been delivered at our clinic during the past 10 years.
Newlife International School of Midwifery is unique in that all tuition fees go directly to fund Mercy Maternity Center. The clinic is self-supported and funded by the tuition of students enrolled in our school. The missionaries administrating the clinic and school receive no salary or compensation from these fees.
Therefore, knowing that 100% of all tuition is helping to serve impoverished families, enrollment in Newlife International School of Midwifery can be deeply fulfilling for each student. Each student actually serves as a 'missionary' while they are studying at the school which is located on the mission field. Basically, students can earn a degree while serving the poor in addition to learning how to be a missionary.

ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS
Our team is also involved in various community development/service projects. We have an extensive primary healthcare outreach ministry that you may read about under the PHC/Outreaches link. And, one of our team members created a unique discipleship program centered around teaching music to impoverished youth in the area that has grown to be very successful.
Several years ago we also envisioned and built Outland Adventure which is the largest adventure-based youth camp in the Philippines comprised of a world-class ropes course facility. It has grown to be one of the most successful youth ministries in the entire country. We're presently under contract with a corporate sponsor to host students from all 72 high schools in the Davao City metropolitan area.
Lastly, we've had extensive experience training and equipping thousands of national pastors and lay-leaders how to start new churches using an effective theological educational program that brings Bible school training directly to students via the local church. We estimate a minimum of 100 new church plants as a result of this effort.
