Financial Aid
Newlife International School of Midwifery is pleased to provide financial assistance to qualifying students. Although our tuition fees are lower than most midwife schools the overall costs to attend Newlife can be made even more affordable through financial aid.
If you are truly interested in attending our school but uncertain how you can afford the costs we want to show you how it may be possible. We are sensitive to student's financial limitations and we wish to provide assistance to ensure each student can receive funds for which they qualify.
Our Philosophy Of Financial Aid
-
We believe the primary responsibility for financing education lies with the student and her family (parents or spouse) and that each student should make an investment in her education through self-help which we define as funds derived from employment earnings, parental contribution (for dependent students), savings, home church sponsorship, and/or loans.
-
We believe all students with a financial need should be willing to make a contribution from current earnings to the greatest extent possible and a willingness to borrow against future earnings.
-
We recognize and define financial aid to include grants, scholarships and loans made by the school or a third party payable directly to the student's account. All financial aid is limited to tuition payments only and may not apply to other school fees, travel expenses or personal expenses.
-
We recognize that grants and scholarships are considered as 'gift-aid' that the awarded student is not required to repay. Students who receive loans however are required to repay any and all loans provided by the school or third party.
-
We accept the responsibility to convey clearly to each student the implications and responsibilities inherent in the acceptance of loan funds. We believe students should be counseled in the wise use of privileges when requesting loan funds.
-
We believe that because institutional funds are not sufficient to fully meet every student's need, a maximum limit should be set on the percentage of need to be met by gift-aid, herein defined as grants, scholarships and any other assistance not requiring repayment.
-
We believe that spreading funding resources over the largest number of applicants provides greater opportunity to assist the maximum number of students in reaching their educational goals.
-
Any and all financial awards are based on financial need and the amount of funds available.
Student Obligations
There are three basic types of financial aid offer by Newlife School of Midwifery;
• Grants
• Scholarships
• Loans
Repayment of educational loans provided by the school must begin as soon as the loan is awarded (not deferred until after graduation). Loan rates are intentionally kept low (presently 4% per annum) with scheduled monthly payments that are realistically capable of being repaid even while the student is enrolled in the school. Repayment must continue after graduation until the loan is paid off. There is no repayment obligation for grants or scholarships.
