Passports

A passport is obviously required for international travel. Passports must be current with a minimum of six months remaining until the date of expiration. If your passport is scheduled to expire while you are in the Philippines it can easily be renewed at the U.S. Embassy in Manila or the embassy of your respective country.

Immigration Requirements

Newlife will provide all pertinent information regarding Philippine Immigration requirements to accepted applicants.

Immigration Fees

Each student should expect to pay approximately $1000 for all required Immigration fees.

Actual visa fees and related policies are subject to change according to the policy of the Philippine Government. In addition, the U.S. dollar exchange rate fluctuations can affect the overall cost. Total cumulative costs including iCard fees may be higher than the projected budget of $1000. Total Immigration costs will of course be greater for married students. The $1000 should be budgeted for each family member.

IMPORTANT IMMIGRATION INFORMATION: Church Letter(s) Required

A student's healthy relationship with their local church is vital since it is our belief that true missions is an extension of the local church body of believers.

With this understanding, a 'Letter of Commissioning' from the student's home church is required to help validate the 'missionary' aspect of attending Newlife School. This letter is required to apply for the appropriate visa the Philippine Bureau of Immigration.

'Letter of Commissioning'

'Letter of Financial Guarantee' (OPTIONAL - certain conditions apply)

The Immigration application also requires submitting a 'Letter of Financial Guarantee' that in effect removes any obligation in lieu of a medical or other emergency for which the Philippine Government will not be held responsible.

According to Philippine law only two entities can submit a Letter of Financial Guarantee related to Immigration applicants; the applicant's home church or a recognized Philippine-based organization. Many churches are reluctant to issue such a letter due to potential liability concerns.

Therefore, our organization is willing to provide this letter based on certain conditions and limitations.

Please let the applicant understand:

  1. Our willingness to provide this Letter is conditioned upon the applicant's ability to carry health insurance or join a Christian shared healthcare ministry as stated in the General Info link (please read).

  2. If you are unable to secure appropriate healthcare coverage then we are UNABLE to provide the Letter of Financial Guarantee.

  3. Subsequently, you MUST secure a Letter of Financial Guarantee from your local church. We can provide the exact wording that will be required in the letter body as mandated by Philippine Immigration.

Clarification: #2 and #3 above does not nullify or invalidate our school policy that all students carry health insurance. We provide this option as an exception for students who are unable to secure coverage, but the student must validate for us the reason why coverage is unavailable.
